Curriculum Vitae

Andreas Meisner, born in 1959, studied Protestant church music at the Music Academy of Cologne. He passed his "A-Examination" in 1984 and completed his studies at the organ in Stuttgart with Prof. Ludger Lohmann. There he achieved his artistic master degree in 1986. He successfully attended several master's courses, e.g. with Marie Claire Alain and Wolfgang Rübsam.

His organ repertoire includes works from all epochs. Regulary he gives concerts on historic (Baroque) organs as well as on grand organs from the romantic period and modernism. There is a certain inclination to French and German music from the romantic and impressionistic era. Further emphasis is put on transscriptions and organ music from Belgium and the Netherlands.

Since 1985 Andreas Meisner has been working as the organist of ► Altenberg Cathedral. In this position he is also responsible for the artistic arrangement of the regular ► Sunday concerts and takes part in the annual International Organ Academy at Altenberg.

The spectrum of choir music ranges from medieval music up to contemporary works. Thanks to his choir ► Domkantorei Altenberg works of any choir arrangement are possible. Like in his organ repertoire there is an inclination to (monumental) romantic, late romantic and contemporary compositions. Concerts take place regularly in Kölner Philharmonie and Altenberg Cathedral.

Lots of ► CD productions and wide international activity in concerts all over Europe, Israel and the United States prove Meisner's high musical capability.

In his educational domain he had – apart from many organ students – a teachership for choir conducting at the Music Academy of Cologne. Occupations as publisher and editor with ► Edition Dohr (Cologne) conclude the image of a versatile musician.
